This is a story relayed to me, but knowing my luck (see not for the squeamish post below if you don't understand!), it could have happened to me!
Our friends, the Joseys, thought they had their holiday schedule with family worked out. However, there seemed to be some confusion when they showed up to what they thought was going to be a meal and a party only to realize that nobody thought they were coming and the party (and highly anticipated meal!) were no more. This left them somewhat dismayed and VERY hungry!
This event happened on Christmas (eve or day, can't remember and not really important), and as you can imagine nothing was open for dinner. As they drove around looking, they spied in the distance, that lovely yellow sign that glowed brightly with the words, Waffle House. Yes, we've all been there. The packed booths, toothless waitresses, the tattooed cooks...need I say more? It was so crowded that the three of them had to sit at the counter. You know, where they wash the dishes?! I am sure that you can see where I am going with this................as they are enjoying their refreshing beverages, the waitress in charge of dish clean up decides to take a phone call, and much to their chagrin, splashes dirty dishwater in their direction. Their poor daughter (who is Shea's age and not feeling well this particular evening), gets the best of the soaking, egg-filled
water splashed upon her but their drinks and silverware are not left unscathed! Suffice it to say that this was not the dinner one hopes for on Christmas!
Not a Christmas dinner to remember, but certainly a bloggable one. Thanks, Myra, for sharing your story with the blogging public giving them yet one more reason to be aware of those late-night waffle cravings!
